2) Piensa rapido y muevete despacio.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

It has been almost 2 years since I heard Daniel Aguilar  (one of the best wedding photographers in Mexico, a giver, and a transparent human being) give a lecture in a congress named BODA F, that day he mentioned that his life and photography changed after attending a Foundations Workshop… At the time I thought the sentence was an exaggeration since he was giving a conference right?, regardless of this, I had the prevailing need to listen to his advice and finally in 2012 I had the opportunity to attend the Foundations Workshop Mexico 2. In the meantime I had the chance to meet the Badass photographer in one of his  great workshops and also establish contact with Citlalli Rico : a fantastic human being , 100% pure mexican photographer talent and my friend.

The first day of the workshop Ben Chrisman gave a speech that , per se,  might as well  have been the complete workshop… the next day I was assigned to the team I requested with Sergio as the Mentor, Katrina Wallace and Daniel Aguilar as his assistants , the assignment: A cultural center named “El Sindicato” (The union)

2 days of afternoon pictures and 1 morning under the leading of Daniel and Sergio, only ended up convincing me that in order to have a successful photography the formula required was very much like the one needed to have a successful life:

 1)   Always smile

2)   Think fast, move slow

3)   Commit to the moment

4)   Closer everything is better

5)   With an open heart, moments will happen

6)   Love others

7)   Open your eyes, the real “breath taking” moments show up when you least expect them

 To mention a few…

Even with this analogy I found it very difficult to sum up and explain an experience of capturing the light with a device, that ends up with a whole team of people crying after watching the final presentations in a rainy Thursday night. You had to be there to get it.

If I had to say it in one word, I think PASSION is the right one, it does a fair job summarizing the feelings of everyone that attended the workshop, took the challenge to become better humans and increase our chosen family so at the end : our photography could reflect that. This is just the beginning NO DOUBT.

Definitely I am convinced that Daniel was not overstating…

This was a great wedding, full of stories and so I begin thanking Karina and Fer for inviting me to be part of their day. Karina decided that her birthday will be a great one to get married and Fer, on his side, decided that as he is a chef, there will be no better option for the dinner but his cook.

A day of 80′s rock, good vibe and tons of work in the kitchen, so much work that Fer never made it to the session , but Karina was very happy he was preparing the dinner , so everything was cool. BTW, the Chef’s second is his dog, 11 years together.

Thanks again for a great day.
